3M Glass Bubbles G65 were introduced at the recent SPE Annual Conference for sampling in oil and gas cementing.

Unveiled as lightweight alternatives to cenospheres, the engineered hollow glass microspheres provide a consistent source of supply and reliability in low-density cementing, it’s declared.

Their product consistency will also reduce some of the risk associated with cenospheres with a high strength-to-density ratio. They’re also designed to be lightweight with a high compressive strength. G65 density is 0.65 g/cc (kg/m³) compared to cenospheres which range from 0.65 to 0.9 g/cc depending upon source of supply.
