Oil-on-water-slicks identified in poor visibility with radar system

sigma S6 Oil Spill Detection (OSD) systems identify potential oil on water slicks in poor visibility across a wide range of sea and weather conditions.

With radar processing and display technology, they perform a real-time moving window process over a large number of consecutive radar scans with full vessel motion compensation. This results in a well-defined oil slick area where there is no or very little sea clutter return. During vessel clean-up requiring slick delineation, OSD enables oil slicks detection while moving. System radar automatically detects slicks over a large operational area. It auto-outlines suspected spills to alert with visual and audible alarms. It automatically tracks slicks to predict trajectory and area of coverage.
