Microhydraulics produce high force
FastFlow annular flow control and microhydraulic technology can be used where compact, self-contained high-force remotely controlled linear actuators are needed. This is based on the discovery that O-rings can be engineered to double as valves.
The microhydraulics offer a compact, cost-effective alternative to hydraulic and pneumatic systems. They eliminate the bulk and weight of hydraulic fluids, noise, and compressed air, it's noted. A small lightweight system the size of a half cigar generates 10,000-psi and 1/2-liter per minute flow rates.
